The first teacher training as part of the “DARoviti u fokusu” project has taken place in April, 2023. 32 teachers from three different partner schools have participated in them, namely the Ante Kovačić Primary School in Marija Gorica, the Krapinske Toplice Primary School, and the Ivo Kozarčanin Primary School in Hrvatska Dubica.
Callidus, which serves as a lead partner on the project, has carried out the training which was on the topic of giftedness, and has presented methods and ways to incorporate content from the fields of entrepreneurship and active citizenship in both regular classes and extracurricular activities. The training’s objective is, through the advancement of teachers’ skills for work with gifted pupils, to provide primary school pupils with long-term opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship and democratic participation, ultimately increasing their employability and social engagement.
During the training, teachers were introduced to various methods and approaches for incorporating content from the fields of entrepreneurship and active citizenship in regular classes and extracurricular activities. They learned how to identify gifted pupils and develop their talents through an entrepreneurial mindset. This approach enables pupils to enhance their problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and teamwork.
Furthermore, teachers had the opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas related to work with gifted pupils. The project improves the connectivity between different schools and teachers, aiming to enhance the quality of education in primary schools in Croatia and the EU. Such an initiative is important as it emphasizes the significance of developing entrepreneurial skills and active citizenship among students at an early age. It contributes to the building of active citizens and local leaders which is important for local development. Such an approach allows students to become more competitive in the job market and actively participate in community life. The training represents a step forward in the development of education quality in Croatia, better preparing young people for the future.
Congratulations to all educational staff which has participated in the training on its successful completion and on their contribution to the improvement of education in Croatia.
The project is financed through the EEA Grants/ EEA Financial Mechanism for the period from 2014 to 2021.
